Allergies The nutritionist explains that, like cow’s milk, peanuts and eggs, shrimp is potentially allergenic, that is, it tends to cause allergies more frequently. The reason is that the crustacean has a protein called tropomyosin, which can provoke an exaggerated immune response in the human body. Shrimp allergy symptoms are: malaise, red spots on the skin and swelling in the eyes, throat and lips. This inflammation can also lead to asphyxiation caused by the closing of the airways. Those who are allergic to shrimp should not consume the product.
