Seven Brazilians guarantee index for the World Paralympic Swimming Championship – News of Brazil

Seven Brazilians secured, this Thursday (27th), an index to participate in the Paralympic Swimming World Championship to be held in Manchester (England). The vacancies were reached during the International Open of the modality, which is disputed at the Paralympic Training Center, in São Paulo, until next Saturday (29).
The athletes who managed to secure their place in the World Cup were Paralympic champions Carol Santiago, from class S12 (low vision), Gabriel Araújo, from class S2 (disabilities and severe physical limitations), Gabriel Bandeira, from class S14 (intellectual disability), and Talisson Glock, class S6 (physical-motor impairments). Also guaranteed were world champions Cecília Araújo, from class S8 (physical-motor impairments), Douglas Matera, from class S12, and Samuel de Oliveira, from class S5 (physical-motor impairments).
“I am happy to see that the training is giving results. I see that I can be internationally competitive, in addition to the 50-metre freestyle, which is my main competition”declared the potiguar Cecilia Araujo, 24 years old, who reached the mark for the fourth World Cup of his career.
On the 20th and 21st of May, the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) will organize the 1st National Phase of the 2023 Loterias Caixa Swimming Circuit, which will be the last opportunity for Brazilians to guarantee rates for the World Cup.
