Foster and owner of Cuiabá, businessman Manoel Dresch died this Sunday night, a victim of brain cancer, discovered several months ago.
Aged 65, he was the brother of Aron Dresch, president of the Mato Grosso Football Federation (FMF), and father of the president and vice president of Cuiabá Sport Clube, Alessandro and Cristiano Dresch, respectively.
Manoel Dresch was the great creator of the club’s project. The businessman arrived in Mato Grosso in the 1980s and set up a small tire retreading company in Cuiabá. Years later, alongside his family, he founded the Drebor company, which became one of the main companies in the country in this sector.
Passionate about football, he began sponsoring Cuiabá in 2003, which at the time belonged to former player Gaúcho. In the first two years of encouraging the club with the Drebor brand stamped on the uniforms, he saw Dourado be two-time champion of Mato Grosso.
In 2009, he had the idea of buying Cuiabá and, since then, the club has taken an impressive turn, reaching Serie A of the Brazilian Championship in 2021. The businessman ended up becoming a central figure for the club to become a power in the Midwest and, which today, is among the top 20 teams in Brazil.
