President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said this Friday (10) that if he sent ammunition to Ukraine in the war against Russia, he would be entering the conflict. In an interview with the American CNN, Lula said that his intention is to end the war. Germany asked Brazil to provide the Ukrainians with ammunition for Leopard 2 type war tanks. However, the PT party did not authorize the operation.

“I didn’t mean to send [munição], because if I order it, I joined the war. And I don’t want to join the war, I want to end the war. This is my dilemma and my commitment”, he said. Lula defends the creation of a group to negotiate peace between Ukraine and Russia. The president said he considered that the Russian invasion was a mistake.

“Of course she [a Ucrânia] has the right to defend itself. Of course, it has the right to defend itself because the invasion was a mistake made by Russia. She couldn’t have done that. After all, she is on the Security Council. [da ONU]. That is, this was not discussed in the Security Council. What I want to say is the following: look, what had to be done wrong has already been done, now it is necessary to find people to try to fix it, “he said.
