Brasilia DF) – The work of Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) in producing the final report of the fiscal framework in the National Congress intensified this Thursday (15th), with the holding of a strategic meeting of parliamentarians with the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, and the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad. Omar announced that he will withdraw the Constitutional Fund of the Federal District and the Basic Education Maintenance and Development Fund (Fundeb) from the spending limit. The Senator from Amazonas reinforced that he intends to put the proposal to a vote next week.
Omar highlighted that he is working with his office and a technical team to analyze each of the more than 50 amendments presented to the project by the senators. For Omar, it is important to maintain the content of the text that the Federal Government originally sent, before being modified in the Chamber.
“I spoke with the president (of the Chamber) Arthur Lira last night and on the FCDF issue, the analysis that the Chamber makes is of the loss of BRL 1.7 billion in ten years, but in the Senate we have an estimated number much higher than that it. But this question of taking money from the State, of funding personnel worries me. I was once a governor and I know that personnel costs are no joke, because if you delay your salary and fail to pay machine costs, you have problems that end up jeopardizing core activities”

Senator Omar also stressed that all discussions are taking place within the political field, and that there is no ‘tug of war’ between the Chamber and the Senate.
“We have a scenario where the dollar is falling, the stock market is rising, Petrobras is appreciating, investment funds from other countries wanting to invest in Brazil, and this project will build a favorable scenario for more jobs, and the government will have money to build more houses, in more social actions and invest in core activities for the population”
