Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) criticized this Monday (18) the cancellation of the non-deliberative session in the Senate, which takes place on Mondays. The session is held for senators to speak in the gallery without voting on proposals.

According to the parliamentarian, this was the third time that the session was canceled this year alone, due to an agreement made last year in which the session cannot be started if there is no member of the Senate Board of Directors present to open it. the session.

“On the eve of the 200th anniversary of the Revision House of the Republic, we had a “Greek gift”. Since last year, for the full exercise of parliamentary activity: a non-deliberative session can only be opened, even for speeches, if one of the members of the Board present”, wrote the parliamentarian on the X network.

Girão explains that there has never been such a requirement for a non-deliberative session to be held. According to him, “such a change only harms “parlar” (speaking), that is, “speaking” is one of the fundamental premises of a parliamentarian who uses the word to denounce”.

“I felt vilified by the situation today. Considering that it was not the first time that I was prevented from speaking on several topics that I prepared for and consider important to address publicly in parliament,” he said.

The senator from Ceará said that he intends to request a “reconsideration” from the Board of Directors to return to what has always been done in relation to plenary sessions.
