The prosecutor Ivana Lúcia Franco Cei, from the Public Ministry of Amapá (MP-AP), had her name approved by the plenary of the Senate, this Wednesday (2), to compose the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP). Now Ivana will be nominated by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and sworn in, along with the other candidates, by the Attorney General of the Republic and President of the CNMP, Augusto Aras.
The CNMP is made up of 14 councilors, who are appointed by their institutions of origin and also need the approval of the Federal Senate and the Presidency of the Republic to assume the position. The composition of the CNMP is formed for a term of two years, and the directors can be reappointed to the positions for another term. The President of the Council is the Attorney General of the Republic. Board members are obliged to participate in Plenary and/or committee meetings, when called, with the right to speak and vote. It is also up to them to prepare projects, proposals or studies on matters within the competence of the CNMP.
On July 11, the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJ) of the Federal Senate, chaired by Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), approved, after hearings, seven nominations for the position of counselor of the National Council of the Public Ministry for the 2023-2025 biennium, including that of Ivana Cei, who obtained 21 votes. She will serve her first term on the board.

The highlight of the prosecutor of the Public Ministry of Amapá Ivana Lúcia Franco Cei, during the sabbath at the CCJ of the Federal Senate, was her commitment to act for the strengthening and improvement of the Public Ministry institution. “For those who know me and know how I operate, they know that conflict resolution is the topic of any management. Dialogue is necessary, and this is present throughout my administration, throughout my work at the Public Ministry of Amapá. And we will continue that way in the National Council of Public Prosecutors,” she said.
Ivana was for eight years and four terms attorney general of the Public Ministry of Amapá and the third woman, being the first from the northern region, to chair the National Council of Attorneys General of Justice of the Public Ministry of the States and the Union (CNPG) . She left the reflection to women so that they participate, whenever possible, in spaces of power. “Our look, our sensitivity and our way of solving problems are necessary because there is no force greater than that of a woman determined to grow”, she said.
