Senators followed the decision of the Chamber and removed the section that increased the free margin of payroll loans. Text goes to President Lula’s sanction. Senate Plenary, in Brasilia Waldemir Barreto/Agência Senado The Senate approved this Wednesday (23) the provisional measure (MP) that readjusted the salary of federal servants, retirees and pensioners by 9%. The increase is also valid for commissioned positions, trust functions and commissioned functions. Congress removed from the text the possibility of increasing the free margin of payroll loans, proposed by the rapporteur of the mixed MP analysis committee, deputy Alice Portugal (PCdoB-BA). As it is an MP, it has been in force since it was edited by the government and came into effect on May 1st. To become permanent, however, it needed to be approved by Congress by this Friday (25). Now, with the approval in the Chamber and the Senate, the text goes to the sanction of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The salary adjustment for federal civil servants had already been authorized by the government in April. But it is the MP that will effectively grant the increase. In the first version of the report, in agreement with Minister Esther Dweck (Management and Innovation), Alice Portugal also proposed expanding the free margin of payroll loans for civil servants to 45%. Currently, the percentage is already this, but the server is obliged to reserve 10% for expenses with payroll credit card and payroll benefits card. In practice, reserves lower the optional margin for borrowing. In her opinion, Alice amended, therefore, the section of the law that deals with consignment to make the reservation optional. However, party leaders of the Chamber sewed an agreement, on Tuesday (22), to withdraw the device. According to the decision, the increase in the margin should be discussed in another proposal. The senators upheld the decision of the deputies.
