See where to play pool in São Paulo – 10/19/2023 – Bars and nightlife

[ad_1]

The standard pool table is about 10 feet long by 5 feet wide. It is covered in felt, with six holes distributed along the sides. And it is present in many bars across the country — a pastime for customers between one beer and another.

Snooker is just the most famous of the games that are played on a table of this type. Knockout and carom are other possible modalities. Not to mention the local versions of snooker, which may change depending on the country where it is played.

Outside of the dirtiest bars, pool tables have been gaining ground in the coolest bars in the capital of São Paulo — some have several of them and charge for the time of use.

See below a list of places to play in São Paulo.

Ball Five
Anyone who enters this bar will come across a different pool table than the traditional one, shaped like a red car. This, however, is not the only option for customers who want to play pool there. The bar has four other tables, which can be reserved for 30 minutes (R$ 33.50) or one hour (R$ 49.50).
To accompany the games, the restaurant serves skewers (from R$ 14.99), artisanal burgers and portions. In addition to drinks and beers, the place has original cocktail options, such as a drink called Abridor de Pernas (R$ 40.90) — which contains vodka, lemon, Curaçao blue and condensed milk — and another called Orgasm (R$ 42.90), with vodka, strawberry, ice cream, Nesquik and Ovaltine.

Cavepool Skateboards
In addition to two skate parks and a basketball court, the bar has a pool table. To play, customers pay R$3 in a chip, and can continue playing until the game ends. The house hosts events with tattoo artists, artists and DJs with different musical rhythms every week — the schedule is published on the venue’s social networks. The restaurant’s main gastronomic options are pizza and street food, such as hamburgers, burritos and hot dogs.

Annex Godê
Opened in September last year, the bar focuses on vinyl music, played both by DJs and regulars, who can bring their records to listen to on Wednesdays. It is also common for the place to host samba circles and serve feijoada, made by chef Lucas Braz, as is the case in the original Godê, which serves lunch from Monday to Friday. Anyone enjoying the sound or drinking there can also play pool — the local table is open to the public, at no cost per game.

Ipo Bar
In addition to drinking classic and original cocktails to the sound of alternative rock, those who frequent the space can take advantage of the pool table next to the bar. There, the game is released to customers at no additional cost. They also find snacks, main dishes and barbecue to accompany the drinks. The Clover Club (gin, lemon juice, egg white and raspberry syrup, R$36) is one of the highlights of the menu. The Billy Sbagliatto (R$ 32) contains Campari, Cinzano, grapefruit and lemon juice, lemongrass syrup, orange bitters and brut sparkling wine.

Whore
Very popular in the early hours of the morning, the bar — which a few months ago joined Azulzinho, which was on the other side of the street — is known for being one of the addresses in São Paulo open until the sun rises. Anyone going to enjoy an after-hours or wait for the subway to open there can play pool at the local table — a game costs R$5. For drinks, the options are beers, cups of Kariri with honey and other drinks.

Papo Pinga and Snack
Also known as PPP, the bar is located in Praça Roosevelt, where the Djalmas nightclub was located, singer Elis Regina’s first stage in São Paulo. With a vintage and nostalgic atmosphere, there is a pool table on the strip and even a second-hand bookstore selling books and vinyl. There, beers start at R$15, and snacks start at R$35. The place accommodates
90 people and open from Tuesday to Saturday. The house recommends that groups make reservations.

Shine Bar
The Pinheiros bar brings together customers inside and on the sidewalk in front of the space. There it is common to find promotions on draft beer or drinks during the week, which accompany the samba circles or the DJs that play there. The pool table is open to the public during a game for R$3. On the last Saturday of this month (28), the bar will host a themed event celebrating Halloween with music, beer promotions and free draft beer for ten first customers to arrive, as well as a costume contest with prizes.

Terrain
Located in the Barra Funda bar hub, the place is in a stripped-down space, in what appears to have been an old parking lot. The structure is similar to that of a house, with a backyard and tables outside and a pool table, ping-pong table and sofas decorating the interior, where the DJ plays. On Fridays, forró and jazz performances fill the night, while on Saturdays samba and pagode reign supreme. To go with it, caipirinha options start at R$25;
and crazy meat, for R$28.

Villa Bar and Snooker
Another São Paulo bar option specializing in snooker is in Vila Mariana. There, customers can choose between three pool tables to play — a one-hour period costs R$ 30. For food, options range from portions to snacks, both starting at R$ 29, while the drinks menu at the The place is made up of beers and classic drinks.
