The dismissal of General Gonçalves Dias from the command of the GSI (Institutional Security Office) marked the first fall of a minister in the third government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), after three months and 19 days in office.

The general went through intense wear after the crisis involving the images of the Planalto security and the performance of the military in the coup attacks on January 8, when members of the cabinet were filmed distributing water and being greeted by the vandals who destroyed the palace.

In previous governments, members of the first echelon fell after 12 days of the new government, such as Romero Jucá, in the Michel Temer (MDB) administration, the fastest case since redemocratization.

In addition to him, Fernando Collor dismissed Joaquim Roriz after 14 days of taking office, Dilma Rousseff (PT) exonerated Marcelo Neri after 35 days of the beginning of the second term, and Jair Bolsonaro (PL) removed Gustavo Bebbiano (PSL) from office 49 days after taking office.

Lula (third term)

• Three months and 19 days of government

In Lula’s third administration, General Gonçalves Dias, from the GSI (Institutional Security Office), was the first of the members of the first echelon to leave the government, after the revelation of images in the closed circuit of the security of the Planalto showing the performance of military of the folder during the January 8 coup attacks.

Jair Bolsonaro

The first crisis of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in Planalto led to the resignation of Gustavo Bebianno, at the time holder of the General Secretariat of Government and president of the PSL. Dilma Rousseff

• Five months in the first term; 35 days in the second

The country’s first female president had Antonio Palocci, then chief minister of the Civil House, as the first to leave the government in her first four years in Planalto. Palocci resigned after failing to explain the 20-fold growth in his equity between 2006 and 2010, revealed by the Sheet.
