1. ‘Save the date’
Everything will depend on the length of your trip and how much money you have to spend, but set aside at least one morning or an entire afternoon to go shopping.
Premium Outlets, for example, have more than 150 stores in each unit and some have queues to enter. Finding the best products takes time. The spaces open at 10 am and close at 9 pm, but if possible, go early in the morning. Thus, you will probably face fewer queues and have access to the best deals – throughout the day, the shelves start to become empty and more messy.
2. Plan yourself
Even if you’ve set aside a whole day for shopping, there won’t be enough time to visit all the stores. With the help of an outlet map, choose in advance which brands you are interested in and organize them by sectors. In this way, you will avoid walking miles to cross the mall from one end to the other several times.
Parking lots are also usually huge, so think twice before choosing your spot. If you plan to go to just one sector, stop next to it, as close as possible to the entrance, so as not to be subject to bad weather such as rain on the way back.
3. Beware of thefts and scams

They can be acquired in several ways. One of them is through the outlet itself —on the website or at the information point, where you can buy a coupon pack for around US$10, or R$50.
For those planning to spend a few thousand, it’s a good option. For those who plan to buy a little, the tip is to ask the store attendants what is the sale of the day.
Some will be stamped on plaques, with bold letters: “Buy a pair of sneakers, get another one free” or “half price”. Or even: “Buy a shirt, get 30% off the next one.”
But be careful: some coupons are issued only after you pay for the products at the checkout. They come at the bottom of the tax coupon, as an invitation for you to return to the store within a specific period. Sometimes it’s worth going back at the same time.
5. Do the math

It is necessary to take into account the tax — not only the one you will pay if you exceed the US$ 1,000 quota on purchases, but the country itself, which varies depending on the state and even the city in which you are.
