Manaus (AM) – The State Secretariat for Urban and Metropolitan Development (Sedurb) launched, this Monday (29), a specific website for the population of Parintins to participate in the Public Consultation on the Integrated Sanitation Program (Prosai). It also started a major mobilization campaign in the municipality, 369 km from Manaus, inviting residents to participate. The Public Consultation will take place in a hybrid format – face-to-face and virtual – on June 7th. But the participation through the site can already be made, from now on.

The purpose of the Public Consultation is to listen to residents, present the planned projects and resolve any doubts that still exist about the works, evaluating the suggestions made. The site, explains the Secretary of State for Urban and Metropolitan Development, civil engineer Marcellus Campêlo, is yet another tool that the Government of Amazonas makes available to the population, in order to expand access to discussions that precede the beginning of the Prosai Parintins works. Prosai works are carried out by the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), a body linked to Sedurb.

On the day of the Public Consultation, in the morning, the Prosai works will be presented to municipal and state institutions and the private sector. In the afternoon, starting at 1 pm, the same process will take place, with the target audience being the 123 delegates who make up the Local Support Group (GAL), made up of people chosen by residents of the program’s intervention areas, to represent them, in the various stages of execution of works. In addition, the program will be open to the public. The face-to-face meetings will take place in the auditorium of the Instituto Batista de Parintins, in the city center, starting at 8 am.

Through the website, everyone can participate and follow, in real time, the day’s schedule. The site was developed by the company Processomento de Dados do Amazonas (Prodam), of the Government of Amazonas. The page is available at the address “Participate”, the population can send questions and clarify doubts about Prosai, filling out a form with personal data and sending the questions.

In the “How to Participate” section, the presentations made during the Public Consultation, on June 7th, can be followed in real time, starting at 9 am. When accessing this tab, the Internet user will be automatically directed to the social networks of the Government of Amazonas, on its official Facebook and YouTube pages, which will be transmitting the programming.

The website also presents the main information about Prosai, including a clarification tab on the importance of the consultation, what the property evaluation process is like and how the city will benefit from the program. “The Government of Amazonas is committed to clarifying all doubts and listening to as many people as possible, so that we can add suggestions from the population to Prosai Parintins. The program will benefit thousands of families and what we want is for everyone to participate and be able to contribute”, highlights Marcellus Campêlo.

weather is expected

Billboards were installed by Sedurb in the municipality, inviting the population to visit the site and familiarize themselves with the information contained on the page. They are located on Avenida Amazonas, in the Center and at Lagoa da Francesa, Prosai’s intervention area.

According to Kelson da Silva Souza, 40 years old, one of the GAL leaders, the city is experiencing an atmosphere of expectation. “I’ve lived here in this area for 15 years and we hope that the consultation takes place in the best possible way, after all, everything will be done to improve our city”, he said.

Management student Marco Antônio Brandão de Andrade, 37, also a member of the GAL, points out that the population is very aware of the importance of the Public Consultation. “We expect improvements in all major sectors,” he noted.

During the Public Consultation, the UGPE will present the results of the social and environmental studies carried out for Prosai Parintins. “We will also present how the resettlements of families living in the intervention areas will be carried out. There is great expectation in the city regarding Prosai, and this is a fundamental dynamic, as we will open a participatory dialogue with residents”, reinforces Marcellus Campêlo.

The Public Consultation is part of the socio-environmental safeguard policies of the program, which is carried out with funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). “It’s an opportunity for everyone to participate and understand the process of elaboration, execution, goals and benefits”, points out the UGPE Social sub-coordinator, Viviane Dutra.

According to her, on July 12th, the UGPE teams will present the feedback from the Public Consultation to residents, that is, the answers to the demands presented by the population. “In this second meeting, the UGPE presents to the residents the solutions created from the requests and observations pointed out by the residents of Parintin”, he informed.

Multi-works program

Prosai Parintins has investments in the order of R$ 413.8 million. The works are expected to start in the first half of 2024. The program will include urban requalification, sanitation and housing solutions for 832 families living in flooded areas. Drainage and sewage works, urban mobility, construction of housing units, as well as urban parks and public equipment are planned. A new water supply system will also be implemented in the city.

The works will directly benefit the neighborhoods of Santa Clara, Palmares, Francesa and Santa Rita de Cássia. But the scope of Prosai goes beyond the intervention areas of the works, as it will enhance tourism in the city and generate around 11,000 jobs.
