The president of the Brazilian Public Security Forum, Renato Sérgio de Lima, criticized the federal government’s decision to adopt a hybrid model in presidential security and defended that this should be the prerogative of the PF (Federal Police).
“A hybrid model with double coordination tends to generate noise and head banging”, he told Sheet. Further, he says that this “compromises the quality of the service provided”.
“In my opinion, they should review, giving the PF the role of coordination. Ideally, it would be a secret service with exclusive competence, as in the USA. But the agency that today has legal competence closest to that is the Federal Police”, he added. .
President Lula decided, on Wednesday (28), that the coordination of his security would return to the GSI (Institutional Security Office), in a defeat to the PF and to the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino.
