Second largest block in the Chamber should be maintained in 2024 – 01/14/2024 – Panel

The second largest bloc in the Chamber of Deputies, which brings together MDB, PSD, Republicans and Podemos, should be maintained this year, according to reports from members of the parties.
Formed in March 2023, the bloc brings together 144 deputies, of the 513 seats in the Chamber.
Leaders assess that the tendency is for it to be maintained. This alliance could be an important factor in the dispute to succeed Arthur Lira (PP-AL) as president of the Chamber in 2025.
This is because, so far, three deputies from the group have emerged as possible candidates: Marcos Pereira (Republicanos-SP), Antonio Brito (PSD-BA) and Isnaldo Bulhões Jr. (MDB-AL).
Leaders interviewed by the Panel state that it is possible for there to be a convergence around a single name for the bloc in the dispute, but they say that this has not yet been addressed.
