Santos announced this Tuesday afternoon (19) the return of coach Fábio Carille, 50. According to the club, the professional signed a one-year contract, with the option to renew for another season.
Carille has been at V-Varen Nagasaki, in Japan, since 2022, but agreed to return to Brazil to lead the Baixada team in 2024, the year in which the club will compete in Series B of the Brazilian Championship for the first time in its history.
It will be the commander’s second spell at Santos. He worked on the team from September 2021 to February 2022.
“Carille arrives with the role of reviewing and redefining the squad within the new rules and guidelines that we are implementing. Santos is great again”, stated Marcelo Teixeira, recently elected president of the club.
Throughout the 2023 season, the black and white team had four coaches: Odair Hellmann, Paulo Turra, Diego Aguirre and interim Marcelo Fernandes.
At the helm of Santos in his first spell, Carille had 27 games, with nine wins, ten draws and eight defeats. The success rate was 46%.
