Santa Etelvina neighborhood gains daycare center to serve more than 200 children in Manaus

The name of the daycare center is a tribute to the pastor and lawyer, Caio Fábio D´Araújo, who died in September 2007

Manaus (AM) – The community of the Santa Etelvina neighborhood welcomed, this Tuesday (26), the Caio Fábio D’Araújo Municipal Creche. This is the 4th unit of this type opened during Mayor David Almeida’s term. It is one of the daycare centers that were abandoned, whose work was resumed under the current administration. The teaching unit has the capacity to serve around 200 children, aged 1 to 3, in kindergartens 1, 2 and 3.

The new early childhood education building follows the standard of the National Education Development Fund (FNDE), “Type B”, developed by the federal government program “Pró Infância”. The site has five distinct blocks: administrative, service, multipurpose and two educational blocks. The blocks and the covered patio are interconnected by covered circulation.

“What you are seeing here is what we are trying to do throughout the city, that is, quality works and infrastructure. Adding this space to other renovated, transformed, expanded, revitalized or inaugurated spaces, this afternoon we are delivering 336 works in teaching units like this one of change and transformation for the population of the city of Manaus. And we are investing here, parents, in a quality physical space. To understand this, just walk around the nursery a little”,

highlighted the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, during the daycare center handover ceremony.

In the outdoor area, there is the playground, a space with children’s toys, and the water castle. The building also has a hall, reception, secretariat, internal circulation, boardroom, teachers’ room, storeroom, baby changing room (Creche 1), bathroom (Creche 2), activities, rest (Creche 3), multipurpose room, linen room, laundry, kitchen, food preparation area (bottles and soups) and washing utensils.

Residents celebrate

For Kedima Hassan, housewife and mother of Pedro da Fonseca, 3 years old, enrolled in kindergarten 3, the residents of the Santa Etelvina neighborhood can only be grateful for the new handover delivered by Mayor David Almeida.

“I’m sure that the entire Santa Etelvina neighborhood community, like me, is very happy and satisfied with this new space, because in addition to being super beautiful, it is safe, organized and very colorful. Wow, we just have to thank the Mayor of Manaus and all the people involved in this construction”,

emphasized Kedima.

Regarding the delivery of the new space, Eliane Souza, self-employed, mother of little Davi Alcântara, aged 2, enrolled in nursery school 1 at the opened daycare center, highlighted that the teaching unit will be important for her to have a place to leave her child and stabilize in a job.

“I had even received some job offers, including one from my sister, but I couldn’t accept any of them, because I had no one to leave my baby with. But, thank God, now I am sure that my son will be in a safe place, I will be able to secure a job and, as a result, earn a fixed monthly income. In other words, this daycare will be very important in my life and that of my son, because he will be in good hands and safe during the day”, said Eliane.

The name of the daycare center is a tribute to the pastor and lawyer, Caio Fábio D´Araújo, who died in September 2007. Caio was a lawyer, but abandoned law to dedicate himself to religious ministry and helped build the Church’s temple. He was the biggest supporter of the growth of the Presbyterian congregation in Amazonas. The honoree had a vast humanistic culture and left behind children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The work on the Caio Fábio D’Araújo Municipal Creche had been stopped for around six years before it was resumed. As a result, until today, many mothers and guardians had nowhere to leave their children, in addition to not having a space for specific care for children up to 3 years of age.
