The traditional Nossa Senhora da Conceição square, in Trem, south zone, has been suffering from the lack of repairs in its structures. In the last ten years, little has been done to give a good face to this so usual place of recreation for the residents of the region.
A ‘Marcílio Dias’ Cup, largest amateur football competition in the north of Brazil in a single square, receives more than one hundred selections per edition and drives the economy. Football matches usually attract spectators who take the opportunity to consume food and drinks in their surroundings, promoting trade.
the soccer field ‘Turíbio Orivaldo Guimarães’, the first in the state to receive synthetic grass, continued without its proper use due to lack of attention from the public authorities in the last decade. In general, this type of artificial turf has a useful life of five years, with proper repairs.
Natural and human actions punished the crash site in past years. Rain, high incidence of sunlight and, of course, football matches, contributed to the wear of the lawn.
The arena has hosted the very traditional Marcílio Dias Football Cup for almost 60 years. In addition to this, other striking matches for the population of Macapa take place on site, such as Academia 20, Fantasy Football, and the traditional Pelada Solteiros e Casados, which has been taking place in the last seven decades.
