Sophisticated atmosphere, attentive staff and a special menu. In Rome, a restaurant has options for dogs and owners to spend more time together.

At Fiuto, the menu for canine customers includes hake with ricotta, minced chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetarian options. Among the drinks, green apple or watermelon smoothie. All under the guidance of an expert.

“The menu was studied with a veterinary nutritionist with whom we determined the ingredients taking into account their allergies, because dogs have many more allergies than humans,” Luca Grammatico, a dog trainer who recently became a chef, told AFP. .

He states that he tries to propose dishes that look a little more gourmet for pets.

“Fish is very popular because it has a different flavor than usual food,” he says.

Portions vary depending on the size of the animal, and prices range from €8 to €20 (around R$100).

Located in the Ponte Milvio neighborhood full of bars and restaurants, Fiuto welcomes 6 to 10 dogs every night during the week and 10 to 15 on weekends.

“Honestly, we didn’t expect this boom”, says Marco Turano, 1 of the 3 co-founders.

The decoration of the place was designed for the well-being of the animals. There are, for example, screens between the tables so that “when dogs eat, they don’t see each other and don’t bother invading their respective spaces”, says Turano.

While taking a selfie with Mango, her five-year-old Jack Russell, Sara Nicosanti highlighted to the news agency that pets are part of our family. “So why can’t we treat them like family?”

As happens in human-only restaurants, the place also hosts birthday celebrations.

In this case, AFP reported the dog Rudy’s fourth birthday, who even received a cake.

The tutor, Romina Lanza, states that the restaurant’s proposal is commendable and being there is a personal choice. “I don’t see anything wrong with that.”
