Classical program attracted a large audience to Teatro Amazonas this Thursday night (08/10)

Manaus (AM) – The closing of the artistic program of the 9th Edition of the Music on the Road Festival took place in style this Thursday night (10/08), at Teatro Amazonas. The classical music program attracted a large audience, which filled the Opera House to watch the concert.

Conducted by Marcelo de Jesus, the work “Réquiem”, by Verdi, was performed by the Amazonas Philharmonic and Coral do Amazonas, with soloists Kismara Pezzati (mezzo-soprano), Luiz-Ottavio Faria (bass), Tatiana Carlos (soprano ) and Giovanni Tristacci (tenor).

Conductor Marcelo de Jesus said he was honored by the fact that Festival Música na Estrada returned to action starting in Manaus, after a hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. He recalled that the artistic bodies of Teatro Amazonas have participated in the festival since the first edition.

“This year, we have the great pleasure of performing Verdi’s “Requiem”, which is a very important work in the choral symphonic repertoire. A grandiose work, lasting an hour and a half, non-stop, with soloists with an international career”,

stated.

The maestro also pointed out that the show marked the beginning of the Amazonas Philharmonic’s concert season. “This concert opens the season in style. We got off to a good start and we’re happy about it.”

said the conductor.

From opera to ‘Requiem’

Soloists Tatiana Carlos and Giovanni Tristacci returned to Manaus and to the stage of Teatro Amazonas after just over two months. Both participated in the 25th edition of the Amazonas Opera Festival, in May. She, in the lead role of the opera “Anna Bolena”; him, in the opera “O Contractador de Diamantes”.

“It was very unexpected, but it was a delightful gift to be asked to do this ‘Requiem’, which has always been one of my dreams. It’s my favorite work and it’s the first time I sing. And being back in this welcoming city, with the orchestra, choir and conductor that I had the pleasure of working with, makes everything easier, much better and more enjoyable”,

said Tatiana Carlos.

For tenor Giovanni Tristacci, “Requiem” was also an unprecedented debut. “It is a great joy and honor to be back in Manaus, in this wonderful theater, with these people that I already know and admire a lot, and singing this wonderful song for the first time. A premiere that could not be in better hands, here with maestro Marcelo in Amazonas”

said the tenor.

For Marcos Albuquerque, the program for the closing night of the Music on the Road Festival was not to be missed. “I always follow the Amazonas Philharmonic concerts. And this time, with the choir, the famous soloists and such an important work, I couldn’t miss it”,

declared Marcos, who accompanied the show in the audience.

Presented by the Vale Institute, the Music on the Road Festival is in its ninth edition and is carried out through the Culture Incentive Law, the Ministry of Culture, the Federal Government, and the Kommitment Produções Artísticas.

In Manaus, the project has the institutional support of the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.
