Reported by Josenildo, commission approves project that allows annual tax-free purchase of taxis – News of Brazil

The Finance and Taxation Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that reduces from two to one year the minimum interval for taxi drivers to use the tax benefit that allows the purchase of a new car exempt from IPI (PL 20/23).
The proposal amends the IPI Exemption Law for Car Purchases, which establishes the rules for exemption.
The project was reported by deputy Josenildo (PDT-AP). He stated that reducing the period for changing cars has the potential to stimulate the economy. “There will be a stimulus for the purchase of new vehicles by taxi drivers, which will positively impact the automotive production chain,” said Josenildo.
The proposal was presented by deputy André Figueiredo (PDT-CE). For him, the change will make fleet renewal more agile. It is conclusive and still needs to be analyzed by the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJ).
