The Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) will receive this Thursday (15th), at 9 am, the report by Senator Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (MDB-PB) on the appointment of lawyer Cristiano Zanin to the position of Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Zanin’s sabbath is confirmed for next week.
The report will present the resume and history of the nominee to the members of the CCJ before the sabbatine and the voting, informed Agência Senado. Unlike what happens in the reports for other legislative proposals, Veneziano’s text will not contain a vote in favor or against the nomination. This is because, in the assessment of authorities by the Senate, the vote is secret.
The lawyer was chosen by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to replace former minister Ricardo Lewandowski, who retired in April. The CCJ must vote on the choice next Wednesday (21), right after the Saturday. On the same day, the issue should go to plenary, as confirmed by the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).
