In a session held this Monday (30), the Regional Electoral Court of Amapá (TRE-AP) formed a majority (6×0) to revoke the mandate of deputies Kaká Barbosa (state) and Sonize Barbosa (federal), both from PL . The Court is judging the Electoral Judicial Investigation Action (AIJE) and Representation of the Public Electoral Ministry, which accuses the two parliamentarians of the practice of irregularly transporting voters in last year’s election.
In addition to the revocation of their mandate, the TRE is making Kaká Barbosa and Sonize Barbosa ineligible for eight years. Starting from the 2022 election, and imposing an individual fine of R$10,000. The trial was not concluded due to the request for review presented by judge João Lages, president of the court. The rapporteur of the action is judge Carmo Antônio de Souza. The trial will conclude on November 7th.
Judges Anselmo Gonçalves, Normandes Souza, Thina Sousa, Paola Santos and Orlando Vasconcelos followed the vote of rapporteur Carmo Antônio.
José Carlos Carvalho Barbosa, known as Kaká Barbosa, is a member of the PL and has been a state deputy since 2002, when elected by the now-defunct PST. Last year he was re-elected with 7,453 votes, being the seventh parliamentarian with the most votes among the 24 elected. In 2015, he temporarily assumed the presidency of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), due to the removal by court order of President Moisés Souza (PSC). In February 2016, with Souza’s impeachment, Kaká effectively assumed the presidency of the Assembly, being re-elected to the same position in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Sonize Barbosa (PL) is serving her first term as a federal deputy, having obtained 9,200 votes, being the fifth most voted among the eight federal deputies elected by Amapá.
