A publication made by actress Regina Duarte, on Instagram, was classified as “false information”, according to independent fact checkers, this Friday (4). In the post, the actress calls the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, the “coup mastermind”, in reference to the acts of January 8.
The post made on Thursday (3) is a video that shows Flávio Dino talking excitedly with the Minister of Defense, José Múcio, at the Planalto Palace after the acts of vandalism in the Praça dos Três Poderes. “I’m kind of out of the CPI of 8/1/23. (…) what folly was that invention to solve a great mistake of breaking the Public Heritage with narratives of “coup”? The blackblocks ordered to simulate folly have already been identified and arrested,” wrote the actress.
The notification of “false information” in the actress’s post comes from the portal to the facts – one of the partner agencies of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to “combat disinformation”. The portal cites a report saying that the mention that Dino would be “mastermind of the coup” is false.
The type of check seems to apply only to publications that accuse members of the federal government, given that publications with accusations similar to supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro continue to circulate without the same classification.
Meta – the company responsible for Instagram – informed the Power 360that the classification of false posts is carried out by media companies that are part of the “independent global fact-checking program”, launched in 2016. That is, the checking agency is the one who identifies a supposedly false post and then leaves a warning in the publication .
