Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois ‘is almost ruled out’ from the Club World Cup, says Spanish newspaper

Thibaut Courtois should not be Real Madrid’s goalkeeper in the Club World Cup. According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, the Belgian “is almost discarded” from the FIFA tournament, which includes Flamengo. He will still be submitted to exams on Monday morning, but the first evaluations left a negative expectation in the medical staff.
Pessimism is such that, according to Marca, even the round of 16 of the Champions League, against Liverpool, is cause for concern. The first duel will be on the 21st, at Anfield.
The injury was felt this Sunday, shortly before the duel against Mallorca, for the Spanish Championship. Courtois left the warm-up complaining of pain in the adductor of his left leg. Andriy Lunin was then chosen to defend the goal. The team ended up losing 1-0.
The goalkeeper joins the list of Real Madrid athletes suffering from injuries earlier this year. Éder Militão and Karim Benzema left the field complaining of pain in the last duel, against Valencia, and Hazard was diagnosed with tendinitis in his knee last Saturday.
