Ready to bury a bad phase, Felipe Micheletti faces French at Glory 84

Glory 84 will take place on March 11, in Rotterdam (Netherlands), and Felipe Micheletti will be the only Brazilian in action on the card. The fighter from São Paulo will face the Frenchman of Algerian origin Nordine Mahieddine, in the light heavyweight category (up to 95kg).

After his debut in the 60th edition and two consecutive victories that raised him in the ranking, the Brazilian kickboxer has suffered three defeats in the organization, but he believes that the new challenge is the perfect time for redemption.

“There were three circumstances that did not favor me in the last matches. The first was the death of my father. The second was catching the fight at the last minute and in the middle of the pandemic. Then, I went up to the ring with a broken rib. But fighter you have to fight and I don’t like to make excuses. I’ve always been there and kept my word. I’m not afraid of anything or anyone. The time is the best possible now. I feel that I’ve evolved with all these setbacks. I’m ready to seek the title,” he said.

Opponent of the time, Nordine Mahieddine is considered one of Glory’s most technical heavyweights, and will be downgraded for the first time. Micheletti, who during his professional career has played in both divisions, intends to use previous experience to his advantage.

“There is a big difference in strength and speed between the two weights. I feel more agile at 95kg and stronger as a heavyweight. I know that he (Nordine) trusts a lot in the power of his punches. But I think he will have difficulties to fit into the division, and must feel uncomfortable with this inherent loss of strength,” said Micheletti.

“I already believed a lot in the absorption (of blows) and in brutality on top of the ring. But I’ve been training to fight more and more intelligently and conduct the rounds imposing my techniques regardless of the opponent’s profile”, he added.

Glory 84 will have a super match as the main event. Featherweight champion (up to 66 kg), Thai Petchpanomrung will move up in category to face lightweight champion (up to 70 kg) Tyjani Beztati, from Morocco, for the division belt. Combate will broadcast live in Brazil (check the channel’s schedule for the time).
