Rapporteur of proposal on medical marijuana will hear countries – 01/09/2024 – Mônica Bergamo

Rapporteur at the National Council for Drug Policies (Conad) of the proposal to regulate the cultivation of marijuana for medicinal and scientific use in Brazil, advisor Rodrigo Mesquita will hear, in January, researchers and regulatory agencies from countries such as Argentina, Portugal, Belgium and New Zealand.

The idea is to seek, together with these actors, international examples that can inspire Brazil to address the issue, which has been pending regulation since 2006, when the so-called Drug Law came into force.

Mesquita, who represents the national OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) at Conad, will also receive other bodies and entities interested in the debate while composing his report. The regulatory proposal must be presented to the council in May 2024.
