Randolfe’s project establishes Black Awareness Day as a national holiday – News of Brazil

The Plenary of the Federal Senate approved, on Wednesday, 29, Complementary Bill No. 243/2023, reported by the senator Randolfe Rodrigues, which allows the use of Social Fund resources to cover expenses with a program to encourage students to remain in high school.

“With the approval of the project, we will enable millions of young Brazilians, who today cannot afford to pay for transport, school and lunch, to have the necessary conditions of not having to choose between life and school and thus reduce a large part of school dropout rates”, says the parliamentarian.

Historical reparation

The bill authored by Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, which makes Black Awareness Day a public holiday throughout the country, was approved in the Chamber of Deputies. “The measure is a gesture of historical reparation so that November 20th is remembered in our country as a date to celebrate the struggle, strength and resistance of the black people who built and are building our country”emphasized the author of the agenda.

Promotion of culture

Also authored by the senator from Amapá, a bill was approved that extends the Paulo Gustavo Law and guarantees more resources for artists and culture makers, helping in the execution of cultural activities and projects. The project goes to presidential approval.
