Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, in an interview this Saturday morning, 15, on the program ‘Togas and Gowns’ (Diary FM 90.9), may have put an end to the discussions being held about “oil exploration” off the coast of Amapá. He clarified that this is not exploration, but a study to check if there really is oil in that region.
The parliamentarian explained that if the study, research or prospecting detects the existence of oil at the bottom of the Amapá sea, exploration will only come two or three years after the discovery. And then, he predicted, any contrary position taken today on exploration will also make no sense, since oil extraction will take place 540 kilometers from the mouth of the Amazon River and 170 kilometers from the coast, on the limit of the state’s territorial sea.
Randolfe Rodrigues offered to discuss with any organization that defends nature the impacts that could affect the maritime ecosystem as a result of the exploitation of the black oil that Petrobras hopes to suck for the production of fuels.
The senator clarified that where the French company Total wanted to explore for oil on the coast of Amapá is close to the mouth of the Amazon River, where there would be a predominance of coral reefs, which does not occur in the area targeted by Petrobras. “I want to debate in favor of the eight hundred thousand people from Amapá who suffer from unemployment and economic difficulties, and oil exploration is a great source of income”, proclaimed the leader of the government in the National Congress.
Randolfe Rodrigues also pointed out that in Colombia, Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana, oil exploration takes place in places on the same plate where Petrobras wants to prospect, but in these countries there was not and there is no impediment from an environmental point of view.
In the interview, the parliamentarian asked: “What are the interests that keep all this contestation here in Amapá, one of the states where there are more Bolsa Família beneficiaries than jobs?” Finally, he informed that next week he will go to President Lula, together with Senator Davi, to discuss the study that Petrobras wants to carry out in the territorial sea of Amapá.
100 days of Lula’s government
Senator Randolfe, on the same occasion, spoke about the first hundred days of the government of Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, highlighting, among other points, the recovery of the country’s social structure, through Bolsa Família, to serve 18 million Brazilians who starving, in addition to the restructuring of the Minha Casa Minha Vida program, which in Amapá alone will provide housing for up to ten thousand families.

Randolfe Rodrigues argued that Brazil is no longer a pariah of the world. Today he is at the center of discussions in Latin America, he talks with Joe Biden, he talks with Xi Jinping. “This is a portrait that Brazil has returned to being a global power, which is its place in the world”, he compares.
Congressman Randolfe Rodrigues guaranteed that at the end of the four years of the Lula government, the northern section of the BR-156 will be fully asphalted, and that one hundred million reais have been contributed to paving the southern extension of the highway. He announced that until June the minister of transport, Renan Filho, will come to Amapá as a demonstration of the goodwill of the federal government towards the good treatment that the BR is now receiving from the federal government.
The parliamentarian highlighted the presence of the French delegation with five senators in Amapá, this Friday, the 14th, for a rapprochement that points to another horizon and other perspectives in the relationship with French Guiana, which, according to him, is responsible for 55% of the movement economy of the municipality of Oiapoque.
80 years of creation of the federal territory
Randolfe Rodrigues anticipated that in September the 80 years of Amapá, first as a federal territory and now a state, will be greatly celebrated with the return of Expofeira, obliteration of a stamp designed by the renowned Ralf Braga and made by the Post Office. “The 80 years of Amapá will be a celebration”, he celebrated.
Former CEA employees
The congressman also spoke of the situation of former employees of the extinct CEA, who lose their jobs in the state government, by decision of the STF, but that for him there is still hope of permanence, as he envisions a solution, through appeal to the Supreme Court, or even with a joint action by the GEA and the Legislative Assembly.
