Quoted the Minister of Tourism has lunch with Lula in Pará – 06/17/2023 – Power

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) attended a lunch this Saturday (17) with the candidate for new Minister of Tourism, federal deputy Celso Sabino (União Brasil-PA), who received public support from the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB).

Sabino is quoted to replace the minister appointed by Lula at the beginning of his term, Daniela Carneiro. He also has the support of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who discussed the issue with the President of the Republic at a meeting on Friday (16).

“If Pará has one more minister, we won’t think it’s bad, because it strengthens our state. If that’s your decision, Celso will represent all of us”, said Barbalho this Saturday, at an event with Lula in Belém.

The event that represented the signing of agreements for holding the UN (United Nations) COP30 climate conference was attended by the Barbalho family, father Jader, a former senator, Helder’s brother, Jader Filho, now Minister of Cities.

Soon after, the authorities present and the candidate for Minister of Tourism went to lunch with Lula at the Casa do Saulo restaurant, in the Casa das Onze Janelas complex, in the historic center of the capital of Pará.

The appointment of Sabino by União Brasil to the Ministry of Tourism would mean an approximation of the government with the centrão led by Lira, who also covets the Ministry of Health.

Responsible for the base of support for the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Lira has made life difficult for the government in Congress and made public statements criticizing the Executive’s political articulation with parliamentarians.

The Planalto Palace is still trying to convince Daniela to resign from the Tourism portfolio and, with that, avoid President Lula’s weariness with allies in Rio de Janeiro. The minister’s husband, the mayor of Belford Roxo (RJ), Waguinho, supported the PT candidate in the election campaign.

Daniela, however, has told ministers that she has no intention of resigning. The government believes that this is a way for it to press for the release of positions and amendments that Waguinho has been asking for the political wing of Planalto as compensation for the change in the Ministry of Tourism.

The demand for nominations at the Union Heritage Secretariat (SPU) in Rio de Janeiro is on the table, as well as positions at federal hospitals in the state (which, for the time being, are being nominated by the PT) and at Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro.
