Quaest: Lula Government approved by 37% and disapproved by 27% – 06/21/2023 – Branch

In just under six months of office, the approval of the Lula government (PT) is at 37%, and disapproval, at 27%, at a steady pace. Another 32% consider the PT administration regular, and 4% were unable or unwilling to answer.

This is what the Genial/Quaest survey released this Wednesday (21) reports. The survey personally interviewed 2,029 people aged 16 or over between June 15 and 18, in 120 municipalities. The estimated margin of error is plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

In relation to the previous results, published in April, the approval oscillated one point upwards, and the disapproval, two points downwards. The number of those who consider the government regular also varied positively, in three points. All remained within the margins of error.

Quaest’s numbers are similar to those obtained by Datafolha on June 12 and 14, when the PT scored 37% approval and 27% disapproval – 33% considered the current government regular and 3% did not opine.

According to data from Datafolha, Lula’s approval in the first six months is lower compared to the same period of his first two terms, when he scored 42% and 48%, respectively, in addition to that of Dilma Rousseff (PT) in her first government, with 49%, and that of Fernando Henrique Cardoso (PSDB) in 1995, with 40% of positive evaluation.

In a specific question from Quaest about their opinion regarding the work done by Lula, 56% of respondents said they approved of what the president is doing – in the previous survey, the number was 51%.

Those who said they disapproved of the PT’s work are at 40%, a negative oscillation of two percentage points in relation to the results of April. Those who did not know or did not want to answer this question accounted for 4%.

According to Quaest, there was a recovery among those who thought the current president’s efforts in the Southeast, South, Midwest and North regions were positive. In the latter, for example, approval of Lula’s work went from 46% to 56%, while disapproval went from 47% to 42%.

In the South, in April, disapproval of Lula’s work was at 51%, compared to 43% of those who agreed with Planalto’s actions. Now, they are 49% and 48%, respectively. In the Northeast, the scenario is one of stability, with 71% approving Lula’s work — the same level as in the previous survey.
