Public Ministry promotes workshops for electoral promoters and technical staff – News of Brazil

The Electoral Public Ministry (Electoral MP) promotes electoral workshops for prosecutors and the body’s technical staff, on March 21st and 22nd, at the headquarters of the Public Ministry of Amapá (MP-AP). The body’s initiative aims to update members and professionals who will work in the 2024 municipal elections in the state.

In the program, four workshops are planned with the themes: Fraud regarding gender quota and Violence regarding gender policy; Electoral Civil Actions; Electoral Crimes; and Accountability. Speaking at the event, as guests, the public prosecutors Nathália Mariel It is Pablo Beltrand, who were once regional electoral prosecutors in Amapá and now work at the Electoral Attorney General’s Office, in Brasília-DF. The substitute regional electoral prosecutor, Milton Tiago Araújo de Souza Júnior and the advisor to the Electoral MP in Amapá Leonardo Souza Chaves also speak at the event.

The activities begin this Thursday (21), at 2 pm, in the auditorium of the Attorney General’s Office, in Araxá. Soon after, the first workshop took place with the public prosecutor Nathália Mariel, to address the issue of gender in politics. The remaining topics will be covered the following day, in the morning and afternoon, between 9 am and 5:30 pm, with a lunch break.

At MP-AP, the Electoral Operational Support Center (Electoral CAO), coordinated by prosecutor Ricardo Crispino, it supports the inspection carried out by electoral prosecutors in the municipalities throughout the process of carrying out the vote.

In the capital, Ricardo Crispino (Macapá-Zona Sul) and André Araújo (Macapá-Zona Norte, Cutias and Itaubal) act as full members of the 2nd and 10th Electoral Zones, respectively, with the following as substitutes: 2nd Zone, Fábia Nilci Souza, and in the 10th Zone, Laércio Mendes.

In the other municipalities, the electoral process is supervised by the following electoral promoters and respective Zones: Socorro Pelaes (6th Zone – Santana) and Horácio Coutinho (substitute); Eduardo Kelson Pinho (1st Zone – Amapá, Pracuúba and Calçoene) and Hélio Furtado (substitute); Marco Valério Santos (5th Zone – Mazagão) and Fábia Regina Martins (substitute), Alisson Buchacher (4th Zone – Oiapoque); Roberta Araújo Jacob (7th Zone – Laranjal do Jari and Vitória do Jari); Fabiano Castanho (8th Zone – Tartarugalzinho); Carolina Oliveira (11th Zone – Pedra Branca and Serra do Navio); Benjamin Lax (12th Zone – Porto Grande and Ferreira Gomes) and Clarisse Lax (substitute).

Electoral MP

The Electoral MP does not have its own structure. It is a mixed composition body made up of members of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) and prosecutors from the Public Ministry of Amapá (MP-AP). In Amapá, the Electoral MP is headed by the regional electoral attorney Sarah Cavalcanti, with Milton Tiago Araújo de Souza Júnior as his replacement, appointed by the electoral attorney general, Paulo Gonet, for the 2023-2025 biennium. MP-AP prosecutors perform the functions of electoral promoters by delegation from the MPF.
