The Superior Council of the Federal Public Ministry approved last Tuesday (2) the creation of groups to combat organized crime and international human trafficking, in an initiative that is in line with the priority given by the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet , to the topic.

One of the groups, which will specifically deal with human trafficking and migrant smuggling, will work on investigations and processes related to these crimes and may have support from the judicial police.

A group to combat cybercrimes and those committed using information technology was also created, which will support prosecutors responsible in investigations and criminal proceedings to identify, prevent and repress this type of crime.

Since taking office, Gonet has decided to adopt measures to improve the fight against criminal organizations.

In March, he met with the new national secretary of Public Security, Mário Sarrubbo, to discuss the issue. The attorney general advocates new approaches to tackling the problem.
