The Legislative Assembly of the State of Amapá (Alap) held on Friday morning (28) the Public Hearing “Shrimp from the Amazon. Legislation, Management and Marketing in the State of Amapá”.
Proposed by State Rep. Diogo Senior (MDB), the event was attended by various authorities in the sector, representatives of entities in the area, scholars, as well as fishermen from riverside communities in the municipalities of Mazagão, who occupied the gallery of the Casa de Leis. Let strong legislation come in that brings closure, insurance for families, because people also need to be taken care of and most of the people who fish for shrimp are women, and we need to provide a guarantee for the mothers, who contribute a lot to the economy. We are far behind in relation to captive breeding, especially in relation to the Northeast, where there is a large scale, where there is a very large expertise and people need to bring it here, understand how this breeding is done, promote and, from there , to be able to deliver a quality, healthy product and, above all, to strengthen the economy”explains Senior.
In addition to the congressman, the panel conducting the work was composed by: Jô de Lima, from the Research Center of Embrapa Amapá; Sandro Belo Barriga, from the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) in Amapá; Álvaro Renato da Silva, from the Amapá Agricultural Inspection Defense Agency (Diagro); Ivaneia de Souza, from the Amapá State Secretariat for Fisheries and Aquaculture; Leidinaldo Gama, from the Fisheries Federation in the State of Amapá; and Kindolle dos Santos Viana, from Sebrae.
The Hearing took place with the delivery of six lectures, followed by space for debates with those present. The first speaker was Sandro Belo Barriga (Abrasel), who addressed the theme ”Commercialization: Economic and cultural importance of shrimp in the State of Amapá”. Then, researcher Josineide Malheiros, from the Association of Agroextractivist Workers of Ilha das Cinzas (Ataic), spoke about ”Management: techniques and challenges of artisanal shrimp fishing in the Amazon”. Next, Jô de Lima (Embrapa), spoke about “Off-season: reproductive cycle of Amazonian shrimp and socio-environmental management”.
To talk about ”Food Security in Traditional Communities in Amapá”, was invited Dalva Miranda, of the Nossa Amazônia Association. already the focus ”Federal Legislation: regulation of fishing activities at the national level”was in charge of Elielma Ribeiro, from the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, who spoke via videoconference.
