The result of an electoral poll carried out by the PT in Belo Horizonte gave strength to the possible candidacy of federal deputy Rogério Correia for mayor of the capital of Minas Gerais in 2024. The party has discussed the launch of PT names and also the possibility of supporting deputy Duda Salabert (PDT).

Held from July 12 to 15, the survey interviewed 1,003 people in Belo Horizonte. In it, Correia appeared with 8% in the stimulated voting intention. Other options analyzed by the party, such as state deputies Macaé Evaristo, with 4%, and Beatriz Cerqueira, with 4%, had a lower performance.

In the scenario with Rogério Correia, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos) had 16%, journalist Eduardo Costa (Cidadania), 11%, state deputy Bruno Engler (PL), 10%, current mayor Fuad Noman (PSD), 6 %, and Duda Salabert (PDT), 6%.

As shown by the Panel, members of the PT’s national directory engaged in a conversation on the subject in a WhatsApp group.

National vice-president of the party, Washington Quaquá wrote that the PT has to re-discuss its tactics to win voters from the periphery and conservative in morals and said that any support for Duda would need to be well discussed, as it would have a national effect. Janaína Oliveira, national LGBT secretary of the PT, pointed out transphobia in the argument, which Quaquá denied.
