Former federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) responded this Sunday (16) to criticism by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Gilmar Mendes. On Saturday (15), the magistrate stated that the former Lava Jato attorney “can now found a church” for having received a “rain of Pix” from supporters.
In the social media, Dallagnol stated that the minister “offends at once Christians, churches and good Brazilians who support the fight against corruption”. “It is sad to see a Supreme Court minister reach such a low level as to attack people’s faith, in such a despicable act of religious intolerance,” said the former deputy.
Gilmar Mendes was participating in an online event promoted by Prerrogativas, a group that brings together lawyers aligned with the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), when he made the statements.
“Perhaps, because he does not experience God’s love, he cannot understand what a demonstration of love, faith and compassion by the thousands of Brazilians who showed solidarity on that occasion is. And answering your crude provocation: I’d rather found a church than found a club to protect the most corrupt and criminals in Brazil”, said Dallagnol.
