Psol presents crime news against Nikolas Ferreira for alleged transphobia

The PSOL bench in the Chamber of Deputies filed a criminal notice in the Federal Supreme Court (STF), this Wednesday (8), against federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), after he spoke in the plenary on the Day of Woman. Wearing a wig, the Minas Gerais parliamentarian said that “women are losing space for men who feel like women”. For the PSOL bench, the statements constitute the crime of transphobia.

“For you to have an idea of ​​the danger of all this, they are trying to impose a reality that is not reality. Either you agree with what they are saying or, otherwise, you are transphobic, homophobic and prejudiced” , said Ferreira in another part of his speech. During his speech, the parliamentarian also opined that “women owe nothing to feminism.”

In the action, PSOL asks the Supreme Court to accept the crime news, to proceed with the necessary steps so that Nikolas Ferreira is investigated and, if it is proven that there was a crime, asks that the parliamentarian be denounced for “inducing and inciting discrimination and prejudice against trans people and transvestites”.

Transphobia was equated to the crime of racism by the STF, in 2019, and started to be treated as a heinous crime.

Cassation request and criticism of Lira

After Nikolas Ferreira’s speech, federal deputies from the PSOL, PDT and PSB also called for the removal of the Minas Gerais deputy’s mandate for alleged transphobia. The filed representation asks the mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), that a disciplinary process be initiated in the House Ethics Council and that Ferreira be punished with impeachment at the end of the entire analysis. In the group’s assessment, the deputy broke parliamentary decorum.

On Twitter, President Arthur Lira (PP-AL) criticized Ferreira’s stance and wrote: “The Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies is not a stage for exhibitionism, much less prejudiced speeches. I will not admit disrespect against anyone. felt offended and offended my solidarity”.
