PSG president reveals “gentleman’s agreement” with Mbappé

The president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al Khelaifi, stated that he has an agreement in place with Kylian Mbappé to sign a contract renewal. The French striker only has six months left on his contract and, at this point, he can already sign a pre-contract with another team. “I’m not hiding anything, I’m sure I want Mbappé to stay. For me he’s the best player in the world,” said Nasser Al Khelaifi, in an interview with RMC Sport channel. “For me, the best club for Kylian is Paris. Today it is the center of our project”, he reinforced.

The director explained that the agreement with Mbappé does not involve financial issues. “I don’t want to talk about money and say how much the deal is worth… It’s a gentlemen’s agreement”, continued the PSG president.

At this moment, according to him, the important thing is to leave Mbappé comfortable for the rest of the season. PSG’s main objective is to win the unprecedented Champions League title. The French team faces Real Sociedad, from Spain, in the round of 16. “They talk a lot about Kylian, we have important games ahead of us, we have to leave him alone.”

Al Khelaifi’s statements were made just days after Mbappé took a stance on the future. “I haven’t made a decision yet. I haven’t made a choice. With the agreement I had with the president (of PSG), my decision is not important, because we managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’s serenity for the challenges that lie ahead “, he explained.
