The Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) government established this Friday (1st) a commission to investigate the possible leak of the Provão Paulista editorial topic. The 3rd year students wrote the essay on Thursday (30), but the night before, the topic “Challenges of fighting hunger” was already circulating on social media.
According to the Department of Education, there is evidence that the newsroom leak occurred in three state schools, located in the east zone of São Paulo, in Campinas and São Carlos. The name of the units was not provided.
The commission will be formed by representatives of civil society from the three state universities in São Paulo (USP, Unicamp and Unesp), Fatec and Univesp — in addition to members of the secretariat itself and Vunesp, the foundation responsible for preparing the test.
The secretariat did not inform how representatives from each institution will be selected. She also did not say what qualifications these people had to conduct the investigation.
The decision to have a commission made up only of people from civil society differs from the protocol followed by the Ministry of Education when there is a suspicion of an Enem leak. This year, for example, the Lula government (PT) contacted the Federal Police after identifying images of the Enem 2023 test book circulating on social media.
The secretariat did not say whether it plans to contact the Civil Police or whether it has registered a report of possible fraud.
“It will be the committee’s responsibility to investigate possible failures, including signs of leaking of the topic of the 3rd grade writing test in three participating schools, and thus ensure the integrity and impartiality of the selection process that in the 2023 edition that more than 1.2 million students participate”, said the secretariat.
Provão Paulista is being applied for the first time this year. The serial entrance exam will select students from public schools to fill 15,369 places in higher education institutions in the state. More than 2,700 of these vacancies are for admission to three of the most prestigious universities in the country, USP, Unicamp and Unesp.
This Monday (4), 1st and 2nd year high school students take the second day of the test, and the grade for this edition will be considered when they are in the 3rd year. The idea is that Provão Paulista is a serial entrance exam, with accumulated grades across the three series.
