O Amapá it should be the first state to agree on water governance with the federal government, to improve the management of water resources. This was one of the subjects discussed by Governor Clécio Luís and a technical team with the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency (A-N-A), during a visit to the institution’s headquarters in Brasília, on Wednesday, 1st.
The government team visited the monitoring room where drought and flood situations in the Amazon and the rest of Brazil are checked.
“We left here with a lot of information for Amapá. We must be the first state to sign a pact for water governance, which is very important. We also signed other partnerships that will help us maintain our level of water security, respecting environmental issues and cooperating with the development of our state”, said the governor Clecio Louis.
At the meeting, the Agency presented the partnership it already has with the state of Amapá and detailed projects that optimize the management of water resources in the state, as explained Veronica Rios, CEO of ANA.
“We had the opportunity to present the possibility of advancing in projects such as ‘Qualiágua’ and ‘Monitor de Secas’. Amapá is a national leader in granting the provision of basic sanitation services throughout the state, observing the particularities, serving isolated communities and, at the same time, strengthening state regulation. It is an example to be followed by Brazil. We hope soon to agree on the governance of the waters of Amapa”highlighted Veronica.
The agenda was articulated by Senator Davi Alcolumbre and by the Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Goes.
