Processing for more than 400 days at CMM, a project that implements a device in public transport in Manaus
Manaus (AM) — Bill 262/202, which obliges the implementation of the Panic Button in public transport in Manaus, advanced at the Manaus City Council (CMM) and is a discussion away from final approval and submission to the mayor’s sanction. Authored by councilor Lissandro Breval (Avante), the PL has been pending in the Legislative House for more than 400 days and is an ongoing issue for the parliamentarian to demand.
“The crime rates on public transport in Manaus are absurd. Every day a citizen is approached by a bandit, has his goods stolen, when he is not attacked or even has his life cut off. My project would be the Chamber’s response to all of that. Finally my project reaches the plenary and now it goes to the second discussion. It is one step away from being sent to the mayor for approval. And that we can all join forces for it to be effectively implemented “
said the councilor.
The Panic Button Project aims to inhibit the action of criminals on buses in Manaus through the implementation of a physical button that will allow the immediate activation of police in cases of approaches by criminals.
“I understand safety as everyone’s responsibility. Even though it is under the purview of the state, I understand that the Chamber can indeed contribute to putting an end to this type of action. The population can no longer bear so much insecurity, so much violence. We need to come together and do something about it.”
he concluded.
