Action brings together heritage, cultural, historical and architectural meetings in the central area of the capital, always on Saturdays and free of charge
Manaus (AM) – The “Our Center” program, run by Manaus City Hall, will be one of the highlights of the Heritage Education Week, run by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan) – Construindo Redes, when the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb) will make the presentation of the project “Experiencing Our Center”, on Monday (30), at 2:30 pm. The meeting takes place at the Benjamin Constant Institute (IBC), on Avenida Ramos Ferreira, 991, Centro. The project was selected by the scientific committee of the week.
“Vivendo o Nosso Centro” began in August and will end this stage in November this year, promoting heritage, cultural, historical and architectural meetings in the central area of the capital, always on Saturdays and free of charge, for a group of people previously registered to participate of activities.
The immersion and experience circuit passes through buildings, listed assets, squares and streets, in a tour organized by Implurb technicians, with support from the Municipal Foundation for Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult); the Municipal Department of Labor, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi); and the Technical Committee for Implementation and Revitalization of the Historic Center of Manaus.
“The revitalization, requalification and regeneration of the Historic Center of Manaus focuses on making better use of the territory that holds valuable cultural and heritage wealth. ‘Our Center’ aims at the economic rescue of the area, involving actions in the economy, tourism, history, entrepreneurship, culture, art and housing. With the project, we are stimulating citizenship, in an interactive and active way, the perception of civil and academic society of the environment in which they live, through elements of architecture and urbanism, city hall interventions, carrying out the heritage education script”,
explained Implurb Historical Heritage Manager (GPH), architect and urban planner Melissa Toledo.
The “Vivendo o Nosso Centro” itineraries will also have three more visits, the next one being this Saturday (28th), and another two in November.
“Heritage education and the fact that we are inviting society in general to learn about it, while we are carrying out the works, has the value not only of belonging, but it is an opportunity for professionals in the area, for those who are in training and have interest in the subject, have contact with public spaces, with the conservation, valorization and preservation of existing urban heritage”,
Melissa commented.
The architectural complex of Manaus is an attractive landmark and offers functions of transit, entertainment, commercialization, living and having this life in a place of memory of the city.
Construction
The city hall is currently carrying out three urban development projects in the Center: Lúcia Almeida viewpoint, Thiago de Mello mansion and São Vicente square. The circuit passes through construction sites, but first, it starts at Dom Pedro II square, heading to the Manaus City Museum (Muma), at Paço da Liberdade, and Bernardo Ramos street. Afterwards, the group heads to the first interventions of “ Nosso Centro ”, with a visit to Carolina Lane. The circuit ends with a trip to Palácio Rio Branco and the Iphan-AM headquarters, located at numbers 13 to 17, on Travessa Dr. Vivaldo Lima, in the port area of the capital.
At all points, historical and architectural contextualization is carried out, with an emphasis on styles and typologies and, in the case of ongoing interventions by the city hall, the emphasis will be on the type of construction and adaptation to the new use.
