With a focus on business development for Brazilian media organizations and independent journalists, the Acelerando Negócios Digital program is open for registration until February 26th.
Selected companies can win grants of up to US$ 15,000, equivalent to around R$ 75,000. Scholarships for journalists can be up to US$2,500 (R$12,000).
Organized by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the action will provide training and mentoring with professionals in the areas of media and business. The first phase of the program lasts ten weeks and will be developed through webinars, in Portuguese, on business management, digital audience, project development and business model.
Participants who attend at least 75% of the webinars will be able to register for the second phase of the program. In this phase, exclusive mentorships will be carried out with specialists over five months.
Those selected for the second phase will also receive financial support grants for the development of new projects and for accelerating their digital businesses.
The program has support from Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, and partnerships with the National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) and the National Association of Magazine Editors (Aner).
In the first edition of the program, held last year, 25 Brazilian media initiatives were selected to receive grants and specialized mentoring.
Independent or freelance journalists and Brazilian media organizations of any type or size can apply for the program. Registration is open until February 26 on the organization’s website.
