Professor Goreth recommends approval of the minimum allocation of 50% of the FNDTC to three regions – News of Brazil

The Commission for National Integration and Regional Development of the Chamber of Deputies approved Bill 159/23, which allocates at least 50% of the resources of the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) to institutions in the North, Northeast and Center- West.
Presented by Deputy Lebrão (União-RO), the text amends Decree-Law 719/69, which created the FNDCT. The current norm guarantees 30% of the fund’s resources for the three largest regions of the country.
Lebrão claims that the change aims to balance the destination of the FNDCT. The North, Northeast and Center-West regions cover 74% of the Brazilian states, but retain only 30% of the fund’s resources.
The opinion of the rapporteur, Deputy Professor Goreth (PDT-AP), was favorable to the proposal. “Financing innovation and scientific and technological development in Brazil plays a fundamental role in reducing social inequalities”, evaluate.
“By investing in these areas, the country promotes the emergence of innovative and technologically advanced solutions, which can expand access to quality services and boost economic development, creating opportunities for socially disadvantaged regions and groups”, adds Goreth.
The project, which is being processed in a conclusive manner, will now be analyzed by the Science, Technology and Innovation commissions; Finance and Taxation; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
