Professional and amateur football from Amapá received R$ 2.5 million in investment – News of Brazil

Football is a national passion and Amapá is no different. It moves the economy with jobs and direct and indirect income. Despite the difficulties faced at the beginning of the administration with essential areas such as health, the promotion of sport is one of the strategies to enhance the well-being of the citizen of Amapa. In this sense, the State Government invested R$ 2.5 million in professional and amateur clubs.
The amounts were transferred directly to the clubs through a development agreement with the State Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Sedel). Of the total amount, R$ 1.8 million was divided among the eight clubs that are disputing the Campeonato Amapaense, the “Amazon”. The other R$700,000 will be invested in tournaments for amateur teams in the capital and in other municipalities in the state.
“Sport, and football in particular, is a great storehouse of talent, often discovered on the outskirts. We know the difficulties and how much we still have to do, but sport transforms people’s lives. Therefore, more than fair to promote our Amapaense Championship, as a way to encourage the next generations. We cannot forget the generation of jobs and income that it also provides”highlighted the governor Clecio Louis.
The Estádio Olímpico Zerão is the main stage of Amapazão, where it has already hosted 26 games in the first phase of the competition alone. Sedel manages the space, maintaining the lawn and the entire structure to receive the teams and fans.
“We know how important football is in our state, not only for the sport itself, but for the opportunities it brings to the boy who dreams of playing, to the fans, to the ticket seller and to the merchant with his stall. barbecue, which earns extra income by selling on game days. So, the support of our governor Clécio Luís is not just for the clubs themselves, but for football as a whole.”explained the secretary of Sports and Leisure, Rudney Cunha.
Amapá Championship
In the 2023 edition, the Campeonato Amapaense has eight teams: Independente, Macapá, Oratório, Santana, Santos, São Paulo, Trem and Ypiranga. The champion guarantees a place in the 2024 Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, competitions held by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
