Pro-Deltan act emptied in SP regrets the disunited right – 06/04/2023 – Politics

Movement that galvanized the streets in the months leading up to the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff (PT), VPR (Vem Pra Rua) took 345 black balloons to Avenida Paulista this Sunday (4). They represented, according to the spokeswoman for the VPR, Adelaide Oliveira, the 345,000 votes that Deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) won and that the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) threw in the trash when voting for his impeachment.

The quorum started with about a third of that number, just over a hundred people in an empty act that did not have the support of great partners in the past, such as the MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre).

“Good morning, warriors, fearless, courageous, who despite everything are here feeling indignant”, says deputy Adriana Ventura (Novo-SP) into the microphone. She speaks of “dissatisfaction with this dictatorship of the judiciary”.

The revolt with the impeachment of the former Lava Jato prosecutor is not the only cause on the agenda. On posters and in the speeches, there are also attacks on the nomination of Cristiano Zanin for the STF and the caressing of President Lula (PT), on Brazilian soil, on the dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

Deputy Luiz Philippe from Orleans and Bragança (PL-SP) opened his participation by saying that he was even happy to be there, “but a little unhappy that we are not winning this battle”.

He recalls that the right united “to remove Dilma, the PT” and has the challenge of “maintaining this union again”. He called for Lula’s removal (“we know he is a criminal”), mocked the “200 idiots” in the center and criticized the “radical left” of Congress. The Bolsonarist wing, of which he is a part, was spared.

“Ten years ago, Brazil knew the strength of the streets,” said the call for demonstration on social media, recalling the 2013 protests that electrified the country. A Sheet she says “separation of powers is a pillar of democracy” that is not being respected by higher courts. “We consider that they are moving forward on agendas that are not within their competence, especially in the Legislature.”

Adelaide defines the January 8 attacks in Brasilia as “serious instability” caused “by naivety, stupidity, I don’t know what, desperation”. For her, there is still room for a moderate right.

He thinks the bumpy public protest has suffered from polarization, a scarecrow for right-wing unity. “People are parading a lot of hate, they are no longer able to unite for common points, they only look for what divides them. Unfortunately, the MBL was not able to participate.”

The act extends with a walk along Paulista and a slightly thicker public, although still microscopic compared to the crowds on the streets in 2016. At a certain point, the demonstrators were confused with people who went to the avenue, closed to cars on Sundays, in pursuit of fun. They bumped into samba performances, missionaries from Jehovah’s Witnesses and a group that trained crossfit.

It all ends with the National Anthem, the catchphrase “democracy, freedom, justice” and the release of black balloons through the skies of São Paulo.
