President of the UN agricultural development fund will meet with Lula and Haddad – 07/15/2023 – Panel

The president of IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development), Álvaro Lario, will meet next week with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to discuss new investments aimed at combating poverty and food insecurity in rural areas, mainly in the northeastern semi-arid region.
Lario should also meet with ministers Fernando Haddad (Finance), Marina Silva (Environment) and Paulo Teixeira (Agrarian Development). Meetings are also planned with the governors of the Northeast Consortium.
Fida, headquartered in Rome (Italy), is a UN agency that seeks to finance investments to combat rural inequalities and to strengthen family farming.
Added to counterparts from governments and co-financiers, the fund’s resources should exceed R$ 4.4 billion.
