President of PV calls Nunes an embarrassed Bolsonarist – 02/26/2024 – Panel

President of the PV, José Luiz Penna criticized the participation of the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), in the event called by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) this Sunday (25). Fearful of losing the former president’s electoral support, the emedebista decided to attend, but stayed out of the spotlight and did not appear in photos with Bolsonaro.

In a video obtained by the Panel, Penna says that Nunes is an “embarrassed scholarship holder”.

“It’s shameful that he went to the demonstration and stayed hidden, not assuming his alliance. How could he? A politician who lived with Bruno Covas. In fact, he only became mayor because of Bruno’s unhappiness. He betrayed the friendship and political commitments he had with Bruno Covas “, states the president of PV in the recording.

Died in 2021, Covas opposed the then-president’s authoritarian attitudes and speeches and criticized his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

Months after Bruno Covas’ death, Bolsonaro criticized him. “The other, who died, closes São Paulo and goes to watch Palmeiras and Santos at Maracanã. That’s the example,” he said. The speech aroused criticism from toucans, family members and Nunes himself.

After the game, the then mayor said that after “so many uncertainties about life”, the happiness of going to the stadium with his son Tomás had taken on “a different proportion”. He died about four months after leaving.

“It’s worse [Nunes] hide this alliance from the population, wanting to deceive. A person with these positions cannot be mayor of the city of São Paulo. Ricardo Nunes is nothing more than a Bolsonarist. Worse, he is nothing more than an embarrassed Bolsonarista”, adds Penna.

In 2020, PV was part of the Covas and Nunes coalition. In 2024, with the party as part of a federation with PT and PC do B, Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) will be launched.
