Popular car: See how much the price can drop – 05/25/2023 – Market

The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) released this Thursday (25) a plan that seeks to reduce the price of new popular cars.

Vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) announced that the main measure will be the reduction of taxes for vehicles of up to R$ 120 thousand, with the reduction of the IPI and PIS/Cofins.

Reductions in final vehicle prices will range from 1.5% to 10.96% —discounts will be greater for cheaper cars. In addition to price, two other factors will be taken into account to determine the size of the discount: energy efficiency and national production. The government will still specify how many reduction ranges there will be.

Renault Kwid and Fiat Mobi, the cheapest zero-kilometer cars in the country, cost around R$ 69,000, according to a survey carried out by Sheet with automakers. Among the ten most affordable models, the price can reach close to R$ 85 thousand.

In the list, there are also cars like Citroën C3, Hyundai HB20 and Chevrolet Onix.
