Popular car: Fiat leads discount program – 06/19/2023 – Market

Fiat, from the Stellantis group, is the automaker that most consumed resources from the Lula government’s (PT) program that seeks to reduce the price of popular cars, with R$ 130 million in tax credits, which represents 26% of the total available.

Among the Fiat models that are part of the program, the one with the biggest discount, of R$ 8,000, is the four-door Mobi 1.0 Like Flex. Another option that consumers find with a R$ 8,000 discount is Renault’s Kwid 1.0 Zen.

This weekend, the volume of resources requested by automakers reached R$ 320 million. As a result, 64% of the total tax credits granted for the application of consumer discounts in this modality have already been consumed in less than 15 days.

The information was updated this Monday (19) by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.

Among the other automakers that joined the plan, Volks requested R$ 50 million, Peugeot Citroen had R$ 40 million authorized and Renault added R$ 30 million in credits. GM and Hyundai complete orders with R$ 20 million each; and Honda, Nissan and Toyota with R$ 10 million each so far.

Automakers can ask for more resources as they use the amounts requested until the limit of R$ 500 million as a tax credit for cars is reached.

The measure, foreseen at the launch to last four months, may be closed in the next few days. Officially, the government denies intentions to extend the program.

The discount package has 266 car versions and 32 models from nine automakers. The list was updated last Friday (16th), when 33 more versions and a new model entered – the Honda City in the Hatch EX and Sedan EX versions, with a R$ 4,000 discount. See the full list of discounted cars here.

As the list is dynamic, other models can be added by automakers at any time. The discounts range from R$2,000 to R$8,000, and may reach higher values ​​at the discretion of the factories and dealerships, and are valid for new vehicles with market prices of up to R$120,000.

Lower price, greater energy efficiency and greater industrial density (capacity to generate jobs and growth in the surrounding areas) were the three criteria taken into account to define the discount bands. The higher the score on these requirements, the greater the applicable discount.

The program is also designed to make trucks and buses cheaper, with discounts ranging from R$33,600 to R$99,400. In all, the program adds up to R$ 1.5 billion in resources – R$ 500 million of which for cars. R$700 million for trucks and R$300 million for buses.

Ten assemblers joined the program in the bus modality and 13 in the truck modality. So far, the volume of funds requested has reached R$100 million for trucks (14% of the available ceiling) and R$130 million for buses (43% of the available total).
