A discussion on X (formerly Twitter) focused on Brazilian politics and justice this Monday (8). Over the weekend, businessman Elon Musk, owner of the platform, attacked Minister Alexandre de Moraes (Supreme Federal Court) and suggested that he could disregard court orders.

The case had repercussions on both the right — which raised the flag of freedom of expression to defend Musk — and the left. Lula government ministers said that the businessman attacked the country’s sovereignty and defended the resumption of the debate on the regulation of social networks. In the Judiciary, the president of the STF, Luís Roberto Barroso, spoke of a “criminal instrumentalization” of platforms, in a note that did not mention Musk.

On Sunday, Moraes included Musk as being investigated in the digital militia investigation. This Monday, in a broadcast on X itself, Musk repeated criticism of Moraes. When asked by businessman Nicolai Tangen what he thought of situations like this, the owner of X replied that “sometimes it’s fun, sometimes stressful”.

This Tuesday’s Café da Manhã (9) analyzes Elon Musk’s offensive and discusses the consequences of the clash with Alexandre de Moraes. The podcast interviews Carlos Affonso de Souza, director of the Institute of Technology and Society and professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro.

The audio program is published on Spotify, a streaming service partner of Sheet in the initiative and which specializes in music, podcast and video. You can listen to the episode by clicking above. To access the app, simply register for free.

Café da Manhã is published from Monday to Friday, always at the beginning of the day. The episode is presented by journalists Gustavo Simon and Magê Flores, with production by Carolina Moraes, Laila Mouallem, Lucas Monteiro and Victor Lacombe. Sound editing is by Thomé Granemann.
